Sasa Eredivisie fans! Even though many of us are glued to the EPL every weekend, the Dutch top flight has its own buzz with free-flowing攻撃 (attack) football that gives "meaning of relegation" a whole new drama. All clubs in the Netherlands chase promotion and relegation, but moving up to the Eerste Divisie isn’t just about results on the pitch. You’ve got to submit a solid business plan to the KNVB, meet stadium specs and other standards set for all teams in the top two divisions.
At season’s end, the bottom-placed Eredivisie club faces automatic relegation, while the Eerste Divisie champions go straight up. The two teams finishing just above bottom in the Eredivisie enter promotion/relegation playoffs. They’re split into two groups, each with one Eredivisie side and three Eerste Divisie hopefuls. Everyone plays home-and-away, and only the winner of each group earns their place in the top flight next year—everyone else drops to the First Division.
